Brian J. Hannibal is a senior vice president in the Portfolio Management department at Gurtin Municipal Bond Management. He is responsible for performing investment analysis on individual securities and across municipal portfolios and strategies. Mr. Hannibal’s duties also include executing trades in both the primary and secondary markets. Since joining the firm in 2013, Mr. Hannibal has contributed to the management of each of Gurtin’s municipal bond strategies, with a primary focus on managing the Stability, Extended Value, and Opportunistic Value strategies. Mr. Hannibal is instrumental in designing proprietary portfolio management technology that seeks to improve trade efficiency and optimize client portfolios. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Prior to joining the Portfolio Management department at Gurtin Municipal Bond Management, Mr. Hannibal spent a short period of time as a member of the credit research team, where he participated in ad hoc research and was a contributor in credit rating committees. Previously, Mr. Hannibal worked for Eaton Vance Investment Managers as a portfolio management assistant in the firm’s municipal bond group. In this group, he worked with trading, credit research, and portfolio management on a wide range of duties that contributed to the management of both the firm’s mutual funds and separately managed accounts.
Mr. Hannibal earned a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in finance from San Diego State University, graduating with distinction. Mr. Hannibal is also a CFA® charterholder.
