John R. Humphrey

John R. Humphrey is head of the credit research team within the Investment Research & Strategy department at Gurtin Municipal Bond Management. Mr. Humphrey serves as a member of the Investment Committee and is a senior credit analyst. In addition, Mr. Humphrey is primarily responsible for leading the overall credit surveillance effort, credit research training, internal credit studies, and all credit-related data and technology. Mr. Humphrey is also responsible for oversight of the credit research team.

Prior to joining Gurtin Municipal Bond Management in July 2009, Mr. Humphrey spent seven years at Moody's Investors Service, where his portfolio of municipal credits included general obligation, essential service, and special tax-backed securities. He was lead analyst on several high profile issuers. During his tenure at Moody's, he was a member of the national rating committee for local governments, and wrote various methodology and special comment publications.

Mr. Humphrey earned a master’s degree in public administration from Cornell University, and bachelors' degrees in history, mathematics and computer science from Purdue University.
