Steven S. Simpson is a Managing Director and President of Gurtin Fixed Income and is a member of the Investment Committee. In his capacity as President, Mr. Simpson is responsible for direct oversight of the Firm's overall operations. He is also responsible for overseeing a number of the Firm's client relationships, and advising investment consulting firms and individual private clients on the strategies and services of the Firm.
Mr. Simpson has been involved in the Financial Services Industry for over 13 years. Prior to co-founding Gurtin Fixed Income, he worked at Morgan Stanley as a Portfolio Manager within The Gurtin Group, a discretionary fixed income portfolio management business. During his tenure with The Gurtin Group, Mr. Simpson played an instrumental role in the team's ability to grow assets under management from approximately $2.2 billion in 2003 to over $5 billion in 2007, and in the restructuring of business operations in order to manage the rapid growth. Previously, Mr. Simpson was a Manager at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) where he spent seven years as a consultant in the Financial Services Practice. At Accenture, he specialized in managing operational and strategic projects and advised clients at several Fortune 500 Financial Institutions.
Mr. Simpson received his M.B.A. in Finance and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2003. He graduated with his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1995.
Mr. Simpson is an Associate Member of the California Society of Municipal Analysts, and serves on the Advisory Board for the Kimball Educational Foundation at the University of Kansas.
